Default unreal - just unreal

So i am tooling around Thursday on my bike instead of working (really just needed to get some shit done) when all of the sudden my shifter stops returning to center after I shift. It just hangs there either down after a down shift or up after an upshift.

So I'm a little pissed thinking "Jeez, the mother fucking spring just broke".

Well I get it home - but on the way the damn thig stops shifting completely! Now I'm stuck in third gear and have to pretty much just run a stoplight and two stop signs so I can make it.

So anyway, I don't have time to tear into it until yesterday, but before I break it down i run out to the dealer for the springs and replacement gaskets and primary oil.

I get back, tear it down, and find out that the god damn engine sprocket nut had STRIPPED OFF the damn shaft! It had wedged itself into the shifter and jamed it - the springs are fine.

So after staring at a stripped nut for about 5 minutes, I run out to the dealer only to hear that they don't have the nut and it will take a week to get it!

Oh KAAAAGAAANNN... got an order for you...

unreal.

What a crock. Is it some kind of specialized nut that only fits in that spot? I guess it could have been worse. At least it din't take the tranny to lunch. Good luck with the repair guy.
