Default mini tach install

i installed the hd minitach black face with programable shift light. it was easy to hook up on my 04 wideglide. three wires only..power, ground and signal. signal wire was a short route under the instrument panel. power was a run to the fuse panel and ground was to the frame. The directions call to remove the gas tank so that you could zip tie the power and ground to the main wiring bundle that runs along the frame. I did'nt do that because I didn't want to cut the tank crossover hose. actually the wires were easy to shove under th tank and pull taught. then i zip tied them on the backside of the tank. my install didn't require any splices. the kit came with differnt connector setups for different bikes so your mileage may vary.

well the freakin tach started to jump all haywire. so i thought i might have bunged up on the install. rechecked everything looked for loose connections, etc. nothing! long story short...i had a defective tach right out of the box! go figure. they gave me a new one which i promptly switched and all is good. i do like having a tach.

Before i got to know a lot of these guys on the forums i would have jsut paid to have it done. thanks guys.

now for the s and s 510s ha

Good deal Doc, glad you installed it yourself. I'm going to put a tach in mine one day but it will be the speedo/tach combo. You will love the cams after you get em in.

Way to go Headdoc, yes, sometimes we do get defective parts.Thankfully in your case, it was not hard to change it back out. The cams will rock in your bike man. I know the guy that has the tools to get the job done....
