Default Rear brake squeaks

The back brake on my 99 Fatboy squeaks loudly when a moderate amount of presure is applied. The brake shoe has plenty of shoe left. Is there an easy fix? Thank You in advance for any info.

If they are the OEM sintered pads you can chamfer the leading edge of the pads to reduce brake squeal. Next time you replace them I would suggest an organic Kevlar pad. They brake better and don't make any noise, but have a slightly lower life span.

Chris is right on here. I have had excellent results with the EBC kevlar pads and the Lyndall Z+ pads. The EBC's tend to shed a little more brake dust and seem to keep your rear wheel dirty. The Z+ pads are nice and clean. Both have excellent stopping power.

YOu "may" be experiencing some brake drag....where the pistons are not free flowing because of the crud, "Brake Dust" that gets in them.....
Use some brake cleaner spray to remove all of the debris, take your flat headed screw driver and place the blade in between the old pads and force the pistons back into the caliper. Have you drinkin buddy pull on the brake lever once again and repeat the process as described above until all four pistons move relatively freely.

Somethin to consider, it's quite common

Highly recommend the Lyndall pads as well. They grab well and are very clean compared to the OEM pads. Best of all they are quiet!!! Make sure your rotor is not getting scored by a hard spot in the pad. I remember reading a post some where that sometimes the mix of the material can be bad and an extra aggressive piece of compound can emerge as they wear in causing rotor damage.

Or vice versa BP - sintered pads can score a rotor if it is on the soft side. This is fairly common amongst Harleys. Rub your hand over some high mileage Harley rotors that have continued to use the OEM pads and you'll see what I mean.
