What to call Natives of Canada
The indigenous people of the United States used to be referred to as “Indians” supposedly because Christopher Columbus thought he was landing in India when in reality he was in North America.
The indigenous people of the United States did not like the term “Indian” and lobbied successfully to be referred to as “Native Americans”. What do you call an indigenous person from Canada? Just another drunk injun.
