Default Another proud day!!! As a member of the CAV

Well this morning turned out sunny and bright and by the time my coffee was ready the skies had darkened and began to rain. I was totally bummed out because had got up extra early to ride with the CAV who were helping out another group today. I watched the weather and it kept saying severe storm watch etc well by 2.30 I said fuck it and jumped on my bike and hit the 401 and made it to Trenton to meet up with the CAV to go to the Repat ceremony for the 6 soldiers killed last week. Riding down was pretty cool. I had truckers honking when I rode past and they read my vest and when the hearses and limo's heading to pick up the hero's went past me I thought if it pours nothing is stopping me.
I arrived at the Tim Horton's across from the base and within maybe 5 mins in pulled Fubar. Great to see him again and fantastic to meet up again with the Juno and Vimy units. You guys rock. All in all a truly honourable day. I left them with a few raindrops but hit the 401 and believe it or not no traffic and rode home with an amazing sunset. Shit still can't wipe the feel good grin from my face.

Those CAV guys were pretty good guys in my book. Sounds like they are doing something similar to our Patriot Guard down here?

Good riding too - you'd already broken your bike in on the liquid sunshine at the Lauren Gillie ride.

That's awesome STG! Reading your post gave me goose bumps. Both groups U.S. and Canada do a great service for the families of our fallen solders.
May they all rip.

Hey Shell it was great seeing you as well...even though I had to cage it down there...it was well worth the trip.

Hey Mungo, we are similar, but created for different reasons. Our soul promise is to raise awareness and funds for Veterans and their families, we also take part in many other community orientated charities...like "Ride for site or Ride for Dad etc etc.
Attending these funerals and Repats is a part of what we do to honour those who have given the ultimate sacrifice....but we do not hvae the religious zelots that were the reason for the creation of the Patriot Guard...we in fact will not engage with any unfriendlys at a funeral....we simply stand a silient wall, of strength and honour...while paying our final respects.

I make this clarification just in case folks up here in Canada are reading this and wonder what we are about.
