I had this sent to me today, thought it was worth passing on. I agree totally.
>>Did nearly three thousand men, women and children, including a number of >>Canadians, die a horrible, burning or crushing death on September 11, 2001 >>or didn't they? And was support and encouragement of those terrorists not >>traced to the Afghanistan Taliban? >> >> >>And today I'm supposed to care that Taliban prisoners might be >>"mistreated" after capture by Canadian troops? Not By Canadian troops but >>AFTER they're turned over by Canadian troops. >> >>Well, I don't. Excellent post! Hell no I don't care. It's a heap of bullshit for sure. Why do they get their little books and mats anyway. Piss on the lot of them.

my tejas buds and i had planned for quite some time a fun and secret trip up to the frozen tundra to visit the likes of my best buddy and pal the fogman...had it all planned out; we were going to sneak into canada, walk into the venue where those lads were playing and give them the biggest texas smile and hospitality...
...well, our trip and we were scheduled to arrive on foreign soil one week after 9/11. we booked it weeks/months earlier but it so happened that after 9/11 everything changed forever regarding flights and movement across the border. ALL my friends told me to forget getting on a plane, don't dare consider it! my three very large texas friends (john boy, Cheapseats, and Jeffroe) and one small chicken (blind terry) with me (julsie) got together for our famous "thursday night prayer meetin's" and decided then and there no rag head with box cutters or bombs strapped to their chest would stop us from making movements north and south, east or west! we decided (after several shots of tequilla) that we were in fact going to see our vavooorite band and best bud, the fogman in Canada! we walked into that saloon, quite the place in ajax, dusted off that whiskey, "poured me a bolt and scored me a jolt" made eye contact with the big man...and let me tell you...when he saw us one week after 9/11 walking into that pub, he made an announcement that there were some Americans in the pub and we had just flown a few thousand miles to be with friends... brothers and sisters of Canada, i want you to know that there wasn't a dry eye in the house before the night was through. in case anyone has forgotten how emotional we ALL were back then, i am lucky to have this memory: that my canadian brothers and sisters made such an effort to welcome us HOME, on THEIR/MY home soil, grown men had tears in their eyes and we were all given a standing ovation! the house lights went up and we were treated with a dignity and respect that i will never forget...i'll Never NEVER forget that nght!! furthermore, we were given T-shirts commemorating the date from the Fire Station in Oshawa. God Bless Canada, God Bless America, and God Bless both our Troups! oh, and God Bless us Bikers 'cause we keep it alive! peace..... |

That's a wonderful story Jules, and really speaks to the solidarity that we all felt post 911.
I think old Bush put it best in and around 2003, when the climate had changed, Canada was not in Iraq, and the US government wasn't that popular up here at the time....he was quoted as saying something to the effect of " Canada, we will always be your closest friend, weather you like it or not" he has always had a way with simple words making a loud statement....made me smile. Great story Jules!! |
