Default First Ride At Home 2007

I got out of my doctor's appointment early today and got my first run of the year in here at home. My place is marked with a blue dot on the map at the end of this post.

I snapped a quick picture of my bike warming up before I left ...

When I hit the road it was 55F and cloudy. I headed west towards Brighton and it was even cooler along the water. If I had to guess I would say it was 45F, or less. By the time I got north of the 401 and away from the lake the temp rose dramatically. It was at least 60F and sunny by that point. I headed north to Campbellford (marked on the map with a green dot) and a bank sign said it was 71F. Absolutely gorgeous for March in Ontario.

Here is a picture of my bike in the public park at the heart of Campbellford ...

This was the view across the Trent River ...

And this is the biggest toonie in the country as far as I know ...

I continued east through Stirling and was originally planning on going south from there and heading home, but it was so nice out I kept going east until I hit the Shannonville Gravel Road, which is actually paved. I went through the Tyendinaga Indian Reserve and stopped at the leather shop to see if they had any leather lowers for my bike. My last set is worn out and I definitely need some new ones before I get stuck in a cold spring rain storm.

A couple pictures at the leather shop (marked on the map with a black dot) ...

From there I headed south over the Bay Of Quinte and followed the south shore along the North Port Road. Once again the temp dropped and it was probably around 50F for that leg. When I got one road south of my place I noticed I had 198 kms on my new odometer, which I just switched to compliments of Kagan. Anyways, I couldn't end my ride with less than 200 kms, so I took the long way around and hit 200 kms on the button just before pulling in the driveway. Not a bad afternoon at all in Eastern Ontario for March.

Here is a picture taken by my wife moments after I pulled in ...

And a picture of my bike parked until the next time ...

Today's route ...

That was a good little jag Speed, havent been in that area in years. Now I'm envious! Just a question though, why not the windshield on such a cold day?

Cheers,
