Default Klock Werks Flare Windshield

I've noticed a lot of bikes with the new Klock Werks flare windshield on them lately. I finally got to ride a Street Glide today with the 6.5" model and it was impressive. So impressive that I ordered one for my bike.

The pictures really don't do them justice, but you can see them here and here.

I prefer the blacked out style myself, but the dark smoke looks ok too. The light tint doesn't look so good in my opinion, but that's purely subjective.

Cheers,

Speed

In the late 60's Vetter had something like that but you had to get the fairing that mounted to the bike ....

Looks good and if it adds to handling performance, that's a big plus!

I just put a "cut down" version on my bagger, but it doesn't have the Klock flare to it. I got a cheap one for $30

Let us know how you like it once you have it on. I have seen the 10.5" models and thought they where a little weird looking. The shorter version does look better.

I gave RN one of these for Christmas, and he loves it. Wouldn't go back to the original.

After trying one yesterday I would tend to agree firestarter. The few people I have spoke to who have the 6.5" model wouldn't go back to stock either.

Cheers,

I ordered two of these windshields this week. One from Eastern Performance in Maryland that I had shipped to my office in Canada and another that I picked up at J&P Cycles in Florida. Eastern is selling them for $145.00 USD plus shipping. They are $169.00 at J&P, but I didn't have to pay for shipping and didn't have to wait.

The one from Eastern is going on my Vrod Bagger and the one from J&P Cycles is already on my black bagger.

Not only do these windshields look awesome in person (pictures don't do the contours justice), but they also serve a functional purpose. According to Klock Werks the stock Harley Windshield on batwing fairings causes a 35 pound uplift on the front end at 60 mph. The 6.5" Klock Werks windshield is claimed to put 15 pounds of downward pressure on the front end at 60 mph and that pressure increases the faster you go.

I have had persistent head shake/speed wobble issues with my 130+ HP black bagger. I have installed a True Track system to stabilize the rear end, changed the swing arm bearings to solid mount units with brass bushings, replaced the neck bearings and set the fall away, aligned the engine and balanced the tired numerous times. The installation of a steering dampener finally solved the wobble, but when the cylinder lost its charge the front end problems came back.

We took the steering dampener cylinder off yesterday and while it was being rebuilt I rode up the Interstate to J&P Cycles and picked up the 6.5" Klock Werks windshield for this bike. I installed it in the parking lot and jumped back on the Interstate. I rode the bike hard (well over 120 mph) and had no head shake, or wobbles to speak of. This is before reinstalling my rebuilt steering dampener. So, I can speak from first hand experience that these windshields perform as advertised. I am convinced that the beach bars on this bike (which stick out past the fairing) are what has been causing the front end wobble in conjunction with the flat windshield and the resulting turbulence at high speed. Ram has the same handlebars on his bagger and now also suffers from occasional front end head shake at high speed and on long sweeper curves. Santa needs to bring him a Klock Werks windshield too.

I also sat on two bikes at Destination Daytona yesterday that had the tinted versions and not only are they unappealing to me, but they also distort your vision when looking through them from behind. The blacked out models are definitely the way to go in my opinion.

I have attached a few pics of my black bike with the Klock Werks flared windshield and when I return to Canada I will do the same for my silver bike.

Cheers,

Speed

Looks good. I'm glad to hear it has helped the wobble problem. I don't find myself riding Ram's bike often but I had the opportunity to experience the "head shake" on one little jaunt. Scared the bejesus outta me. I guess I need to go sit on Santa's lap and ask for a present for Lane eh?
