I looked everywhere for a solid plate for my FL backrest. No one made anything. So I got a piece of aluminum plate (3/16 thick), cut it out to fit with a jigsaw, drilled the countersunk holes using the old triangle plate as a template. Then bought a polishing wheel and compound at Lowes. With an hour of polishing time, it came out pretty well... The SS screws came from Lowes too. Just thought someone else might want to try it.

The backrest plate's look great. I was lucky enough to receive one of these for my birthday. Thank you again Cool. I just want to say the pick doesn't do it justice. They really add a nice touch.

Hey CoolMaker, great that you decided to change the stock backrest plate. So many still have the old triangle one. There are others that are already made for those who don't want to go through the steps outlined. Just do a search for backrest plates for baggers.

As far as I know, there are only 3 like the ones Cool and Moms has. Being the good friend he is, he and Johnny made one and gave it to me as a gift as well. It is by far, one of my favorite mods to my bike. Thanks again guys
