Did you ever think about trading it in on a Honda Gold Wing? LMAO

That is horrible $3K. I would think you could get it redone cheaper. Hell for 3K you ought to be able to get a whole new paint job.

Fix it or whole new paint job it sucks. Any idea what caused it? High pressure sprayer or anything like that?

Seems to me the moco ought to cover a clearcoat recoat since it is delaminating. This happened with many GM vehicles in the mid 90's and they covered it long after the normal warrantee was up. I got a 92 cavalier I bought used repainted in 2000 for free.
When the clearcoat peels off a paint job (it's called delaminating in the paint business) there is a defect in the paint.
I hope it works out for you Randy.

RN's fairing had the clear coat peeling off in strips. Since he is a salesman for Dupont automotive paint, he knew what he was talking about when he had the service manager at our local dealer call extended warranty, and extended warranty didn't want to cover it. The service Manager told them that it was infact coming off and RN proceeded to tell them that it wouldn't be coming off if it was applied correctly and proceeded to tell them how it was done wrong as to what would cause this reaction. The service manager told them in no uncertain words that they really ought to cover this and replace the fairing as they really didn't want this to go to court with RN's knowledge of paint materials and application. He has been selling Dupont for over 15 years and is one of the top salesmen in the Southern US territory. Don't know if ya'll can get HD to warranty it but it's always worth a try. We got a new fairing and to ensure that it wouldn't happen again, he scuffed it when we got it and had Imron put on it. It'll NEVER peel again. Imron is aircraft paint and very durable.

He is no longer at the dealership. I would think if you take it to your local dealer who works on your bike, they would try to help you deal with Moco.
Try going through your service manager and their harley rep.
The service manager can help convince the harley rep to cover it.
Good luck, we were told that we were extremely lucky he was able to get it covered. If you can't get it covered, I'd look into using Imron, you'll never have that problem again even though it may be a bit costly.
