Lieutenant governor hopeful hits the road on a Harley
There’s meeting the voters, and then there’s meeting the voters.
Dauphin County Commissioner Nick DiFrancesco has spent the summer touring Pennsylvania from the back of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle as he sets his sights on winning the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor in 2010.
Since July, DiFrancesco has logged appearances in 65 of the state’s 67 counties and hopes to finish by the middle of this month. He’s blogged about his exploits on a Web site finished in Harley-esque shades of orange and black. And he’s sent up-to-the minute updates on the social networking site Twitter.
If all that seems a bit excessive, consider that DiFrancesco is just one of six Republicans officially jockeying to become the party’s second banana next year, as Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell finishes his second and final term and the governor’s office goes up for grabs for both parties.
