Since the tragic disparition of Bruce Rossmeyer in a motorcycle accident last July, I was aware that the Bruce Rossmeyer’s family and other shareholders of his Harley-Davidson empire decided to put all his dealerships on the auction block (Destination Daytona and 7 other dealerships). Rumor is that a transaction would have been concluded or at least a letter of intent signed by Roger Penske or via another company to acquire all Rossmeyer’s businesses.
If it is the case, the 72-year old Roger Penske Sr. would have no financial difficulty closing such a transaction, whatever the price agreed. Forbes ranked him last year number 382 in the list of the richest persons in the world. A former racer, he operates more than 300 automobile franchises in the US and abroad, selling more than 40 different brands. He is one of the corporate directors at General Electric and has business interests in Penske Racing (Nascar & Le Mans racing), Penske Truck Leasing (a joint venture with GE), just bought the Saturn brand from GM, and has many other automobile and truck related businesses. He is also part owner of the Deer Valley Ski Resort. He is considered one of the most influential people in Sports. My calls to get official confirmation are still not returned at time of publication.

If you hear a low-pitched rumble late Friday afternoon, relax – there’s no need to rush upstairs to close the windows.
It’s not a thunderstorm blowing in, it’s Bikes on the Bricks roaring to life.
And if you like motorcycles – or anything related to motorcycles – you’re not going to want to miss it.
Expanded this year from one day to two, the event gets in gear from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday with the Law Enforcement Rodeo Preliminary Competition.
“People love to come and sit on the bleachers and watch these officers as they run through obstacle courses,” said Tanya Lane, events manager for the sponsoring Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “It’s a great event for the whole family, and it’s all free. You should see the looks on little boys’ faces when they see those officers riding the big bikes.”

The striking of a commemorative coin for Harley Davidson owners on Wednesday drew a host of Nevada dignitaries and legions of motorcycle owners from around the country to the Northwest Territorial Mint in Dayton.
Capitalizing on the tradition of military “challenge” coins and Nevada’s rich history in minting coins, Northwest Territorial Mint struck a coin for Harley Owners Group members. More than 500 motorcycle enthusiasts, the majority of them retracing the Pony Express route from St. Joseph, Mo., to San Francisco, descended on the mint’s 118,00-square-foot facility to get their commemorative coin.
